Act prohibiting the placing on the market of certain single-use plastics

The draft Act authorises the Government to restrict or prohibit, by means of a decree implementing this Act, the manufacture, placing on the market, use and trade of products which typically become waste after a single use or if said product can be replaced by a product with a lower environmental impact.
The draft will bring the definition of plastic carrier bags provided by the legislative provisions in force in line with the definitions of plastic carrier bags set out in European Parliament and Council Directive 94/62/EC of 20 December 1994 on packaging and packaging waste, Directive (EU) 2015/720 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2015 amending Directive 94/62/EC as regards reducing the consumption of lightweight plastic carrier bags, as well as in Government Decree 442/2012 of 29 December 2012 on packaging and waste management activities related to packaging waste. In addition, the concept of biodegradable plastic is introduced. The draft also amends certain product charges.
