FEICA to Offer Master Class on the Mass Balance Approach at Its Annual Conference

FEICA, The Association of the European Adhesive & Sealant Industry, is offering a master class on the mass balance approach at its annual conference. The conference will take place September 13-15, 2023, in Tarragona, Spain. The master class is scheduled for September 15, 2023, from 8-10:30 a.m.

The class is titled "Transitioning to sustainable raw materials: the mass balance approach." It will explain why this chain-of-custody model is important for the industry to participate in the shift to more sustainable feedstocks.

Integrating renewable raw materials in products, including bio-based and recycled materials, is a pressing issue for European industry. Recycled content targets in upcoming regulations, likely starting with packaging, will further accelerate this shift away from fossil materials.

This class is for anyone in the adhesive and sealant industry interested in learning about the transition to sustainable processes. Specifically, Dr. Mathias Matner, head of Sustainability and Advocacy, Covestro, will explain mass balancing from the perspective of raw material producers. Dr. Annett Linemann, director Technology Outlook & Sustainability, H.B. Fuller, will explain the interest in this process from the point of view of downstream users. Finally, Dr. Jan M. Henke, director, ISCC System, will elaborate on certification and licensing as the EU passes regulations to cut back the use of fossil fuels.

The FEICA Conference and EXPO is the most important event for the adhesive and sealant industry in Europe. Formulators, customers, suppliers, distributors, service providers, and members of the academic community gather to share knowledge and gain information about key issues affecting the industry.

The adhesive and sealant industry continues to develop technologies to support a growing world population to live a better life, and to use the planetâ??s resources responsibly and efficiently. The conference gives industry professionals the opportunity to see how collaboration across value chains in different sectors is key in supporting the societal shift to a better future.
