Team Technologies buys California-based converter

Rapidly growing contract manufacturer Team Technologies Inc. has acquired Precision Die Cutting LLC, a converter that specializes in skin-contact medical technologies and products designed to prevent infections.

PDC is based in Chino, Calif., and has an operation in Singapore. Its services include precision stamping, rotary cutting and laser cutting of plastics, films, rubber, foam, adhesives, foils and thin metals. The company serves the medical disposables, diagnostic, life sciences and consumer products markets. Its converting and value-added packaging operations are done in a 35,000-square-foot, Class 100 clean room.

"We are excited to welcome PDC as we continue to expand our manufacturing capabilities in high-growth, recession-resistant health care verticals," Team Technologies President and CEO Marshall White said in a May 24 news release.

Team Technologies, based in Morristown, Tenn., does injection molding and bristling for dental and medical markets. It also does compression molding, product design and development, automated assembly, decorating and packaging. It employs about 930 at 13 U.S. facilities.

In August of 2020, Team Technologies acquired Baril Corp., a Haverhill, Mass., contract manufacturer of single-use medical products.

Just two months ago, Team Technologies announced it had acquired a related company, ViruDefense Inc. of Burlington, Mass., which provides domestically manufactured N95 masks and face shields. At that time, Team Technologies said: "In the past year, ViruDefense has delivered over 10 million N95 masks to health care workers and has capacity to manufacture over 1 million units per week."

ViruDefense and Baril had teamed up soon after the COVID-19 pandemic began, to produce a new kind of mask that combines the filtration of an N95 respirator with the fluid resistance of a surgical mask. In July, the companies received limited, temporary approval from National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for the disposable ViruDefense model VDI-100 air-purifying filtering face mask/respirator.

In the fall, Team Technologies paired with Maxim Biomedical Inc. of Rockville, Md., to produce rapid-result COVID-19 tests in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health.

Team Technologies was founded in 1988. It is owned by private investment firm Clearlake Capital Group LP of Santa Monica, Calif.-based, which bought the company in 2018.
