BASF to Present Energy-efficient, Compostable Plastic Solutions at CHINAPLAS 2021

At CHINAPLAS 2021, BASF will demonstrate how it supports customers to develop innovative solutions that also meet the needs of society and the environment.
Innovations at Display
The innovations include low-emission and energy-efficient solutions for automotive, sustainable materials for furniture and sports solutions, 5G infrastructure solutions, recyclable exoskeleton suits, and additives that extend the service life of plastics.
Business success means not only creating value for our business, but also the environment and society. Chemistry is an enabler for a more sustainable future. Our high-performance plastics, for example, help to increase energy efficiency and save resources because they are long-lasting and lightweight,” said Andy Postlethwaite, senior vice president, performance materials Asia Pacific, BASF. “Our showcase at CHINAPLAS 2021 will strongly reflect our commitment to sustainability – how we help our customers to be more successful and achieve their sustainability targets.”
Certified Compostable and Partly Bio-based ecovio®
The certified compostable and partly bio-based ecovio® can be used in a variety of applications to close the loop of the food value chain and which are an ideal answer to China’s latest plan to ban or significantly reduce single-use, non-biodegradable plastic products in the next five years.
It can be employed in soil-biodegradable agricultural films as well as in certified compostable food packaging and film applications like bags for the collection of organic waste or fruit and vegetable bags. After use, these applications can be composted together with organic waste by industrial composting (acc. to European Standard EN 13432), thus enabling organic recycling and closing the nutrient loop towards a Circular Economy.
At CHINAPLAS 2021, BASF will present new co-created products, including a fridge, cold storage and trunk floor made of PU waste.
By connecting creative minds, we help find the best solutions for market needs and speed up the transition to a circular economy. We invest in partnerships with stakeholders across the value chain to realize sustainability goals,” added Postlethwaite.
