The partners said they will promote the use of more sustainable materials in packaging, such as those produced with Neste hydrocarbons produced from renewable and recycled raw materials, to help companies meet their materials-related sustainability targets. They are seeking other value chain partners to join the initiative â?? for example, Jokey is looking for partners from the bottling industry for pilot projects.
Neste said its product for plastics production consists of components derived from biomass, such as various waste and residue oils and fats as well as chemically recycled plastics, and is suitable for rigid packaging applications. The group recently announced a partnership with Covestro on renewable raw materials for the production of polycarbonate (see Plasteurope.com of 10.06.2020). Part of the collaboration with Jokey includes polypropylene for manufacturing plastic packaging.
Jokey produces rigid plastic packaging, such as buckets, boxes and trays, which are up to 100% recyclable. The German company said it has 15 plants in 12 countries and supplies customers in about 80 countries.29.06.2020 Plasteurope.com [245374-0]
