IMCD and Lactips enter into distribution agreement - Bio-based News -

France-based Lactips, the creator of the first fully biodegradable ‘plastic free’ material – and IMCD Group, a global leading distributor of speciality chemicals and food ingredients – have entered a distribution partnership to market Lactips’ water-soluble, 100% bio-based and fully biodegradable raw materials.

The agreement will initially cover the Nordics and the French regions.

Lactips, said Pascal Chabance, Head of Business Development and Sales, was looking for a leading distributor with a well-established footprint across Europe, strong technical sales expertise and a sustainable approach. “IMCD meets all those criteria. We are starting with two pilot countries with a potential extension the rest of Europe,” he explained.

Patrick van Vugt, EMEA Director of IMCD Advanced Materials Business Group, added: “Lactips’ thermoplastic pellet based on milk protein is a cutting edge innovation. We are pleased to have been chosen as a trusted partner to develop and expand their offer in various applications. With our skilled technical sales team and our in-depth market knowledge, we are convinced we can grow this sustainable business together.”

Lactips material is water-soluble, edible and food contact approved. It is currently being launched on the market as fully bio-sourced packaging for detergent products. The company is planning a 2,500 sq.m plant in the medium term in order to increase production capacity to 3,000 tons a year and more.
