METHOD AND MEANS FOR PACKAGING AND STORING SAMPLES AT LOW AND ULTRA LOW TEMPERATURES

The invention relates to a method for packaging and storing mainly biological samples in refrigerators, freezers and ultrafreezers. The method refers to a synthetic e.g. plastic sheet with compartments for storing the samples. Each sheet, containing the samples, is placed in an envelope or in a box, which is stored in a refrigerator, freezer, or ultrafreezer. Different ways for placing and removing the samples in and from the plastic sheet, as well as for identifying the position of each sample, of the sheet and of the envelope or the box, in which it has been stored, are also proposed. It is expected that the present invention will dramatically reduce the cost of storage, contribute to the safe keeping of stored material, facilitate the handling, record keeping and retrieval of stored material, as well as offer a more pleasant, personalised approach to the process of packaging and storing biological samples.
